To have a Happy Countenance

Good morning my friend. Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart does good, like medicine. But a broken spirit dries the bones.” (NKJV) I love this verse because it reminds me of my mom. I usually call her every morning while I’m on my way to school. The drive is 30 minutes, so it’s my time with her. She is 87 and loves talking with her children and friends. Her way of looking at life is greatly affected by what people talk to her about. So, If I call and feel troubled, she becomes fearful. If I’m telling her the good things going on, she’s happy. And when she’s happy, everything is good. Adriane Rogers says “Not only can negative emotions take life from your years, but they can also take years from your life.” So, this morning I want to encourage you. Life is good. The Son is shining in my heart and I pray that today you can share Jesus by people seeing a happy countenance on your face. If your happy inside, let the world see it.

To stop, take a breath, and listen.

Good morning, my friend, yesterday was Thursday, the 3rd day of Orientation at school. My professor is teaching us the importance of learning the basics at the hospital. As a chaplain, it’s important to understand protocol. In a hospital setting this is very important thing to follow. One of the things I have come to understand is what to do when an emergency happens, when the adrenaline starts to pump quickly through your body. We all react differently, but, knowing what to do is key. Have you ever gone into a hospital and over the intercom you hear the operator is calling out a code and telling the response team where to go. As a chaplain, if this involves me, I have to listen and respond. I don’t have time to look up the code and try to figure out what it means – I have to respond quickly. A person’s life may depend on what I do next. This has been a hard thing for me to do. In my daily life, I don’t always listen to what is being said and try to quickly give an answer to get off the phone. I need to learn to pull

Focus on Godly Wisdom

Good morning my friend, this is the week I start going to school. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Today I have to get my I.D. badge and make sure I’m ready for school to begin in the morning. I got up early to spend time with the Lord and want to continue to keep this as part of my daily routine. Proverbs 8:32-36 “And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors, for whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, but he who fails to find me injures himself; and those who hate me love death.  Wow, what a passage. We spend a lifetime searching for wisdom, and here it is. For those of you that know me. I have a hard time staying focused and with this comes the challenge of completing the task before me. When I went to work for Redman Homes at the age of 23, I worked for Frank Fought, who was the Production Manager

To See as God sees

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) Today I want to encourage you that this year, 2024, can be a great year in seeking the Lord and being a servant. To see as God sees. Position: Going to the throne as a servant Vision:   See as God sees! Compassion:  When I see as God sees, then it moves me to do something Prayer:   Prayer leads us to worship I wish I could take credit for this, but it was shared with us last Wednesday night by Pastor David Neff. His challenge to us was to learn the importance of going before the Lord and and finding out what God wants for us in 2024. I pray today that this can be a tool we use this year as we continue our journey. I choose today to see as God sees. Smile God loves you and so do I.

to get organized

Good morning, my friend. This is a new year and a fresh start. There are so many changes taking place in my (OUR) lives and I want to share them with you. Next Tuesday, January 9, 2024, I start school. It all started as I was getting a clergy badge for identification to visit people in the hospital. While getting my badge, a man asked me if I might be interested in becoming a hospital clergy. That really excited me because I love talking and encouraging people. So, I came home and talked to Joyce and she encouraged me to join the program. This is something I am super excited to do. So today I am trying to get organized, and it starts with my time with the Lord each day and journaling what the Lord is trying to tell me to do. I also am using “Through The Word”(TTW) with Kris Langham. It’s a wonderful app where I can listen to the WORD and then journal. Today is January 3rd, so today I listened and read Proverbs 3. I love verse 21, “My son, do not lose sight of these – keep sound wisdom and discretion.” To me, the
