Be willing to take a Risk

Good morning my friend. I have been reading about the building of the tabernacle and the list of materials that the God told Moses to write down and get . This was a huge list of materials to collect and then to assemble. You can read about this in Exodus 26 . I am amazed at what Moses had to collect but knew God was not asking for something the people didn’t have. Like this example we also need to give back the gifts and talents that we. have. So today my friends are you using the gifts and talents God had given you. Are you willing to take a risk and watch God work? I want to encourge you today to look around and see what you can do to help someone else. Remember its not about me its all about Him Smile God loves you and so do I.

remembering Dad

Good morning my friend. Yesterday  my dad would have been 90 years old. Its hard to believe that he has been gone for 23 years. Dad was my age (67) when he went home to be with the Lord. I am so honored for all the things he taught me and how much he loved his family. He was so proud of his children and what they did. I once heard that the older we get the wiser our parents become. Proverbs 22:6 ” Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.(NKJV) I also like “Direct your children onto the right path, and when he is older , they will not leave it.” (NLT) John MacArthur  says in his Study Bible notes. “Way he should go. ” There is only one right way, God’s way, the way of life. That way is specified in great detail in Proverbs.  Earily training secures lifelong habits. Teaching God’s word and enforcing it loving discipline consistently. If we continue to follow this through out our lives as parents and then grandparents. allowing the  Holy Spirit to do the work in us. Our

the “right time” is now

Good morning my friends. I was reading in 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, “As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. For God says, ‘At the right time I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.’” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. What are we waiting for? I appreciate so much all the opportunities the Lord has given me over the years to be known as a believer in Christ.  Yet I have let the Lord down numerous times when I put all my effort into stuff, buildings and thought I was doing the right thing. I remember one time, I had just returned from a meeting in town with one of my friends, Tom Coble. We had been discussing a new building project here at Siloam Missionary Homes. I was so excited as I drove onto the property – I could see the project finished in my mind. Yet, I was tired. Driving to the bottom of the hill on the Siloam property, I was stopped by Joyce’s father, Mr. Abbey.  He had worked all day on the books in the

to spend alone time with God

Good morning, my friend. This morning in my quiet time with the Lord I was once again reminded how important it is to spend time with God. I am a beginning a new chapter in my life. I’m working on my CPE (Clinical  Pastoral Education) at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. School starts Monday, January 8th. This gives me a new prospective on life and I want to give it my all. But, even with this new challenge, I must remember that I need to have alone time with God.  I can’t run all the time and not become weary. I need to be ready when God needs me to go. He provided a way by His own example of spending alone time with His Father. Jesus knew His time was limited, but he also showed his disciples how important it is to get alone with God. If there is one thing that the Lord is showing me today is to slow down and follow His instructions. Spend my early time with Him. Then I’m ready. Joyce’s dad used to begin his day with me at the prayer rock. He was trying to teach me the importance of beginning my

To share Good Tidings of Great Joy!

Good morning, my friend. I woke up today feeling so much better after dealing with the flu for the past week. This morning, Joyce and I were greeted by a wonderful news that our nephew, Andrew Briggs and his wife Kristen, had a baby girl yesterday. Heika Ann Briggs, born 12/14/23, 6lbs 9oz, 20″long. What a beautiful baby. As our hearts rejoice, I thank the Lord for this special gift from God. During this Christmas Season I’m looking for ways to share Good Tidings of Great Joy! And this little girl can be one of those joys. Children are the greatest gift we have. Another way to share Good Tidings and Great Joy is by just smiling and greeting people warmly.  It makes us happy.  Last evening my mom (now 87) and I went to McDonalds. As we walked in, we greeted every person we met with a smile. When our order came, we smiled at the person that brought our dinner and said, “Thank you”. This encouraged the waiter and he left with a smile on his face. As we ate, Mom and I watched two little boys about 3-4 years old playing in the play area and it
