I Choose Today to Know I Matter

Have you ever had a time in your life when you felt as if you didn’t matter? I have felt that way. When I was growing up, I felt invisible and that I didn’t matter. I can remember wanting someone to see me; to care enough to take an interest in my well-being. It wasn’t until I was 19 that I truly felt that I mattered. That is when my aunt and uncle took an interest in my well-being to introduce me to the One in which I matter most: Jesus. You see I matter, you matter, to God. Jesus Himself said, ”If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it…“ Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭12‬-13a This verse tells me He values the one: each person, you, me, matter to Him! We matter so much, that He would leave the 99 to find us. God took the hand of the scared, invisible little girl and said, “Mo, I see you.

I Choose Today my Abba Father

The churches in our area have partnered up with the county to host guests who need a warm, safe bed during these cold winter nights. On one such night when it was our churches opportunity to host, my husband and I were able to be hands and feet. During dinner, we had the opportunity to hear some of their stories. One gentleman was regaling us with stories of his youth; how he was a sports phenom of his day. He was making the papers, setting new sports records, had college offers which would set him up for life. During the course of the evening we spent with him, he kept talking about he had life by the tail when he was young. When asked what changed the trajectory of his life, he said drugs. But then, through further conversation, he tearfully explained his reason for his pain; what hurt he was trying to cover through the escape of drugs. He explained, with all of his games he had in high school, all the accolades he received from everyone at school, in the community, with college coaches, there was something missing; someone missing. You see, his dad never came to one

I Choose Today to take on the persona of Christ

We live in a society who has a social media persona; one that we want others to see, admire, emulate, and dare I say envy. We get so caught up in who we are or competing with and envying others, that we lose our true selves. Or worse, we hide our true selves. I mentor a group of Moms once a month. During our last meeting, a mom said she sees all the bad things she does, bad thoughts she has, and does not see any good in herself. She was believing a lie about who she was in Christ; a child of the King! She was looking at herself through the world’s eyes, through Satan’s lies, and not the reality of her royalty. I reminded her of how God sees her; through the lense of Christ: His sacrifice, His perfection, His mercy, His grace, His love, His salvation. God had to teach me these things because I didn’t hear them while growing up. I heard that I was dumb, stupid, and would never amount to anything. I learned I was invisible; not worth the time. But God… so loved me. God saw me. God showed me I was worth

I Choose Today to use His Breath

At church yesterday, they sang a praise and worship song that just spoke to my heart called Great is the Lord by All Sons and Daughters (I put the link at the bottom so you can listen if you want).  The chorus says, “It’s your breath in my lungs, so I pour out my praise, pour out my praise… to You only.” This brought to mind when God created Adam in the beginning. “Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬ ‭ This verse tells me three things: First, the Lord intentionally made Adam. He actively formed him on purpose for a purpose. There is a verse in Psalms (139:13) talking about how God knit us in our mother’s womb. Have you ever knitted something or known someone who knits? They have a plan, they take time in picking out the right attributes that will make a perfect product. This tells me He created us, yes, you, with intentionality and care. How amazing is that! That alone is a reason to give Him praise! Doesn’t that
