I Choose Today

I Choose Today...

to spend alone time with God

Good morning, my friend. This morning in my quiet time with the Lord I was once again reminded how important it is to spend time with God.

I am a beginning a new chapter in my life. I’m working on my CPE (Clinical  Pastoral Education) at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. School starts Monday, January 8th. This gives me a new prospective on life and I want to give it my all. But, even with this new challenge, I must remember that I need to have alone time with God.  I can’t run all the time and not become weary. I need to be ready when God needs me to go. He provided a way by His own example of spending alone time with His Father.

Jesus knew His time was limited, but he also showed his disciples how important it is to get alone with God. If there is one thing that the Lord is showing me today is to slow down and follow His instructions. Spend my early time with Him. Then I’m ready.

Joyce’s dad used to begin his day with me at the prayer rock. He was trying to teach me the importance of beginning my day with the Lord.  After our prayer time, he would go home, eat breakfast and begin his day. He then stopped at the flag pole and put up the flag then would come to the office, saying “Reporting in for duty.”

1: Prayer time with God

2. Eat a good breakfast

3. Report in for duty.

Dad did this until he went home to be with the Lord. (93 years old) Now I need to the same!!

Today as I write this blog I want to encourage you to take some time today and begin your day with “alone time with God.”

Smile God loves you and so do I.

My father-in-law, Wilbur Abbey as he shared on Christmas Eve in

Siloam Missionary Homes’ chapel.

  1. How true your words are! Grandpa Abbey was a great example of how to start the day off right, and now you and I are that examples for the next generations and those in our sphere of influence. We need to be ready!

I am so proud of you for stepping out in faith toward your next phase of your journey!

  2. Alone time with God is very important.
I read my Bible and pray while I am eating breakfast.
Wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t spend the time listening to and talking with my Heavenly Father every morning.
    Have a good day Larry!
