I Choose Today...

To use a broken vessel to help another broken vessel

Good morning my friend,

Today I am reading 2 Corinthians 1:4,5 “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give the same comfort God had given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.”

Yesterday I was in the auto parts store getting break shoes for my car. I was really struggling because I needed to get parts for my car and was spending money on break-shoes. Break shoes, really??  This was something I knew I needed because the break sensors were warning me every time I pressed against the breaks. They were worn out and broken, but not something I wanted to buy. The sales clerk told me the amount and as I swiped my credit card on the machine, I heard a familiar voice behind me. I recognized this voice because it was my friend who came to me when I was broken before. This person was with me the day I thought my ministry was over! I was so broken over my sin and I thought that could God never use me – “a broken vessel.”  Gently, Pastor Fred said to me that day, “Larry, God uses broken vessels to help other broken vessels . We have to be broken to allow God to do the work. Let go and let God do it,” and I did.  Yesterday, I was a broken person again trying to do it myself. Once again God used my Pastor Fred to help a bewildered broken vessel. Pastor Fred put arms around me and whispered in my ear, ” I’m here if you need me!”

I try so hard to please people, and it always  gets me into trouble. I’m a people fixer. If I could just learn to let go and let God do it. When I do this, it takes the pressure off. Why is it so hard to learn this? God wants me to let Him do it and for me to get out of the way. When I do this, guess who gets the glory?

Thank you, Fred, for allowing God to use one broken vessel to help another broken vessel by  giving your actions. The Holy Spirit used you to comfort me. It was no coincidence.

Today I pray that you allow the Holy Spirt  to use you, like he did Pastor Fred to comfort me.

Smile God loves you!! Yes HE does , and so do I.
