I Choose Today...

To forgive and to forget

Today I choose to forgive and to forget. I am reminded of the scripture that Paul used in Second Corinthians 2:5-13. When the troublemaker came and asked for forgiveness, the people forgave, but did not forget. We know that sin has its consequences, but as believers do we harbor sin and say, “I can’t forget?” This gives such grief on the repentant person that it makes them feel insecure and try to run from those who really do want to forgive and forget.

That is why we need to forgive as Jesus forgives. When Jesus saw the woman that was caught in adultery, He asked, “Who are your accusers?” When she looked around, they were gone. And then Jesus told her, “Go and sin no more.” In other words “go and change your life.” That means it’s over – paid in full by the blood of Jesus!

Today I need to forgive and forget. That’s what Jesus did and we should strive to do that as well. His death and resurrection paid it all!

  1. This is so important to keep in mind! Satan would love nothing more for us to not forgive. But if forgiveness is given, his next scheme is to keep reminding us of the sin/offense. It is up to us to choose to forget! What a great reminder!
