I Choose Today...

to enjoy a bluebird house….

Hello, my friend. I love to watch birds and see where they fly. They don’t seem to have a care in the world. They spend a lot of time looking for food and a place to find shelter. A few years ago, Al Mitchel made Joyce and I several bird houses and one of them was a bluebird house. I love bluebirds – they are so beautiful. When Al brought the bluebird house to us, he looked around and chose the place he thought would be best and hung it close to the house so we could watch it. Once completed, Al grinned in a mischievous way while looking at the puzzled look on my face. As he walked away, he said, “Just watch it, but don’t touch it. In a few weeks you will have a family of bluebirds.” So, every day I would go to the window and look at the birdhouse he had hung. After a while, I got too busy and I forgot about it.  One Saturday morning about a month later, I was drinking a cup of coffee and remembered that I hadn’t been keeping watch. So, I got up from my chair and looked out the dining room window. There was a beautiful bluebird flying in and out of the birdhouse! I shouted at Joyce to come see and then I remembered what Al Mitchel had said. I thought to myself, “How did that bluebird know where to find the birdhouse?  And how did Al know that a bluebird would pick this one? Was he a bird whisperer?” Lol.

Now my question to you, without looking at the internet, is this. How did the bluebird know that this was a bluebird house? Send me your comments so we can share them.

Take some time today and just watch the birds and enjoy the outdoors. Thank the Lord for reminding us to slow down and see His hand at work. He has everything figured out, even to the point of all the birds.  “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to Him that they are.  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

Being semi-retired has its challenges and I would like to make and sell blue bird house this year for Christmas. This is one way I can support missionaries like James Neves and his family in Thailand. I am taking orders. They are $20.00 each, plus shipping. They will include a copy of this story.

Smile, God loves you and so do I.

  1. Larry,
Good to see that you have another hobby to add to all of the other projects you are involved in.
I will call you in the next few days to talk.
