I Choose Today

I Choose Today...

Lead me to the Rock

Good morning my friend. “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliver; my GOD, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” Psalm 18:2   King David used five metaphors in this verse  to describe God’s relationship with him. He views God as his rock, his fortress, his shield, the horn of his salvation, and his stronghold. These metaphors identify David as a warrior. As he fought his enemies, he relied on God for protection.  (Got Questions Ministries)

I’m not a warrior, but I can see how this related to him. When I think of God and who He is in my life, I think of the “Prayer Rock” behind the Burden Love Chapel at Siloam Missionary Homes. I would go there every day with my father-in-law, Wilbur Abbey, and we would kneel and pray. It was a place of learning, a place of worship, a place of refuge and a place to cry out to God. And when dad prayed with me there, it was a place where God was.

I would encourage you to ask God to lead you to “The Rock.” I’m praying for you today.

Smile, God loves you and so do I.

  1. Thanks for praying, Larry. We all need to pray for others and have others pray for us.
I hope all is going well in your new endeavor as a Chaplain at UNC.
I would imagine that it can be quite rewarding as well as sometimes stressful.
