I Choose Today to Bask in God’s Presence/Holiness

One of my favorite places, where I find peace, tranquility, and joy is when I am at the ocean. The beauty is overwhelming; the power of the waves is impactful; the sounds of the waves crashing and birds singing is calming; the smell of the salt air and sea life revives my soul; and the tingling touch of the breeze as it sweeps across my face is invigorating. I close my eyes and just bask in my time there, just enjoying the moment. That is exactly what David was describing being in the presence of his Lord, Yahweh, when he said, ”One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord and to meditate in His temple.“Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭4‬ ‭AMP‬‬ He wanted nothing more than just be in God’s presence. Not for anything from God, but to just be with God; experiencing His holiness, majesty, love. Feeling the essence as it tingles across his skin, penetrating into his very soul. Can’t you feel it? to let the words of my mouth be pleasing to You, O Lord.

Good morning my friend, Today I was reading in Psalms 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”  This reminded me of a trip that we took to Manus, Brazil to visit my brother-in-law, John and his wife, Rebecca Hawkins. (They were missionaries and John was teaching in a Bible college.)  Joyce and I took three pastors with us to see the work the Hawkins were doing. John gave each pastor a day to speak and challenge the students. As Americans, we have our own creative ways to warm up a crowd. So when John introduced one of the pastors, he got up an said something in a joking manner about Pastor John’s character. The room grew silent. The pastors were immediately offended because in their culture you would never say this. It would be considered a major insult. So, John had to explain this to us and then to the pastors in Portuguese and the men laughed. We all learned that day the importance of being very careful what was said. This has been a great lesson for me. Sometimes in what I

I Choose Today Faith Over Plans: Embracing Life’s Pivots

As a military wife, navigating life’s unexpected turns has become my daily journey. Each day presents unforeseen challenges, and despite lacking specific skills, I respond to the call with unwavering faith. From babysitting to leading fundraisers, my path is a testament to adapting to unforeseen circumstances. In the midst of planning family programs or supporting troops with packages, I discovered the profound truth in King Solomon’s wisdom: ”We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.“ (Proverbs 16:9 NLT) Recently, God redirected my plans at a conference focused on podcasting. Instead of mere information, I received healing, clarity, and a divine path forward. The greatest blessings emerged in the form of newfound friends and a supportive community of believers. While I’m a planner, God’s plans consistently surpass my expectations. So, the next time life necessitates a pivot, seek the blessings God has in store. You might be pleasantly surprised. to believe that He’s able

Good morning my friend. I woke early today and was thinking about my day. I have a meeting with a pastor, I want to stop and see my mom. I have blood work at the doctors office, I have a project that I’m working on. Wow, so much is going on. Stop slow down… Then I began to think, “What is the most important thing to do and put all this stuff in order?” Coffee time with the Lord. It’s here that I plan my day. I sit in my mancave with a cup of coffee and read God’s word and talk to Him. This morning I’m reading Psalms 37, one of my favorite passages beginning in verse 4, Delight yourself in the Lord, And He SHALL give you the desires of your heart. COMMIT your way to the Lord , TRUST also in HIM, and HE SHALL bring it to pass. So, this may sound a little backwards but it’s not. Delight first. Worship and talk to God. I love the old song we sang as children – “He’s Able.”  Sing with me…  “He’s able, He’s able, I  know He’s able,  I know my Lord is able to carry me

I Choose Today to do Life with God

Dwell in the house of the Lord forever… Does praying intimidate you? Does the idea of praying leave you stumped on how to begin, what to say, or even how to talk to the God of the universe? My sister and I live far apart from one another: one in the western part and one on the eastern part of the country. We maybe see each other once or twice a year. However, we do not let our proximity to one another get in the way of enjoying our relationship together. We can spend hours on the phone just doing life together. We could be running errands, cleaning the house, making dinner, driving home from the city (which for me is about an hour). Sometimes she bumps into someone she knows and has a conversation, and I just hang out as if I was standing next to her.  When she is done, we pick up where we left off. We can have a deep conversation, talk about our problems, give each other guidance, laugh together, cry together, be still and quiet together. That is the relationship David had with God. All David wanted to do was spend all his time
