God Is My Fortress

In Psalm 59, Saul has ordered his soldiers to watch David’s house, with the orders to kill him. He could hear them outside. The chapter begins with what Davis “feels and sees.” He begins by crying out to God, “Rescue me from my enemies! They have set an ambush for me.” David goes into much detail about these soldiers that are watching for him. But when his focus changes, he feels the Holy spirit and says, God is his FORTRESS, his STRONGHOLD, like a huge wall of PROTECTION around him. Verse 9 says, “You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my FORTRESS.” And then David ends with verse 17 “O my STRENGTH, to YOU I sing praises, for you, God, are my REFUGE, the God who shows me unfailing love.”  I need to be constantly reminded of the fact that God is my fortress and once I see HIM for who He is, I realize once again He is here for me! I need to continually seek Him. Today Lord, I thank you for reminding me once again that I am not alone and that you, O God, are here with

…To Be Humbly Grateful

In my devotional today, the author asks, “What is your level of gratitude concerning the access and availability of the Bible?” I would have said grateful, but I gained insight this last weekend, that makes me feel humbled and eternally grateful to have access to God’s Word. Last weekend my Aunt and Uncle were visiting, and we went to two museums: the Holocaust Museum and the Bible Museum. Both of these museums were profoundly impactful and humbling. But the most impactful and humbling exhibit I saw was a very large room at the Bible Museum that had large bookshelves lining the walls all around the room. Those bookshelves were full of the bindings of books; each one representing a different language. There were thousands of them each with the label of a language. These bookshelves went from floor to ceiling. But there was one small section of one wall where the book bindings were filled. These represented the languages with current translations of the whole Bible. All the other thousands of bindings we either only partially filled (the New Testament), but most of them were completely empty. These are people who do not have access to the Word of God

to Trust!

Today I choose to trust God. When we trust God and follow His plan for us, we can be righteous, no matter how terrible our past. I love Habakkuk 2:4 “Look at the proud! they trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.” Romans 1:17 “This good news tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the scripture says, ‘it is through faith that a righteous person has life.’“ God is in control. I just need to let Him be in control. God loves you and so do I! Have a great day!
