I Choose Today...

I Choose Today my identity

Who am I? Who am I that God should or would use me to make a difference? This is the same question Moses asked when he was talking to God, “… “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you…”“ Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭12‬a You see, God made it a habit of using people who didn’t have any status or qualifications to do something great for His kingdom: Moses: a son of a slave and a murderer Gideon: the least of his people David: a lowly shepherd boy Abraham: the son of an idol maker Rehab: a prostitute Ester: an orphan Peter: fisherman Mary: a teenage girl I could list more examples, but the point is we don’t need to be qualified or have status for God to use us. We just need to know who He is and who we are to Him. Then simply obey. “We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.” 2 Cor 3:4-5.

I Choose Today to wait

I recently read about someone who had to learn how to rest, wait, learn, and renew by not moving for a period of time due to a medical condition. What would I do if faced with doing nothing? Would it drive me crazy seemingly doing nothing? What could I possibly do while resting, waiting, learning, renewing like he did? The interesting thing about all these words is they are all verbs. A verb is defined as a word that describes an action, state or experience. As it pertains to the state of resting, waiting, learning, and renewing, it is doing something while doing nothing! To me, the season of waiting is an action. The action of resting involves being inactive to restore strength, health, or energy. Also, seeking rest for the soul, which can only truly be accomplished through Christ Jesus. So the act of resting is actually the action of revival of strength, health, and energy. I need to renew my strength just like it says in Isaiah 40:31,  “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and

I Choose Today to Go!

”Gideon replied, “With me, my master? If God is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all the miracle-wonders our parents and grandparents told us about, telling us, ‘Didn’t God deliver us from Egypt?’ The fact is, God has nothing to do with us—He has turned us over to Midian.” But God faced Him directly: “Go in this strength that is yours. Save Israel from Midian. Haven’t I just sent you?”“ Judges‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭MSG‬‬ This scripture is perfect for me right now because God has called me to “Go,” just like He did Gideon. It may not be to save a nation, but it is to encourage, comfort, empower others. In obeying God, there is no telling what He is up to! I have been through a lot in my life. Many opportunities to ask God “Where are You?” Many times I had to walk through and experience pain, despair, fear, trauma. Why would a loving God allow these things to happen; allow me to experience all those horrific times? How can He possibly use them for good? I don’t know the extent to those questions, but I can trust God and know He will do

I Choose Today to take on the persona of Christ

We live in a society who has a social media persona; one that we want others to see, admire, emulate, and dare I say envy. We get so caught up in who we are or competing with and envying others, that we lose our true selves. Or worse, we hide our true selves. I mentor a group of Moms once a month. During our last meeting, a mom said she sees all the bad things she does, bad thoughts she has, and does not see any good in herself. She was believing a lie about who she was in Christ; a child of the King! She was looking at herself through the world’s eyes, through Satan’s lies, and not the reality of her royalty. I reminded her of how God sees her; through the lense of Christ: His sacrifice, His perfection, His mercy, His grace, His love, His salvation. God had to teach me these things because I didn’t hear them while growing up. I heard that I was dumb, stupid, and would never amount to anything. I learned I was invisible; not worth the time. But God… so loved me. God saw me. God showed me I was worth

I Choose Today to share the gift of light!

”Then God said, “Let there be light.” The Light changed everything; absolutely everything! Every night I get up a couple of times and make my way to where I need to go. It is really dark because we live in a place where there are no streetlights or city lights to light up the room. So to keep me from stumbling as I walk around at night, I use the tiny light that is illuminated on our robot vacuum housed in the hall right outside our door. That little light, shines brightly in the darkness and makes all the difference in the world; just like the true Light made all the difference in the world when He came and to this very day! From the beginning of time, Jesus has been the true Light: ”In the beginning the Word [Jesus] already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.“ John‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬, ‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬. Isaiah tells us why the Light makes a difference for the world when he proclaimed,
