I Choose Today

I Choose Today...

I Choose Today to Go!

”Gideon replied, “With me, my master? If God is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all the miracle-wonders our parents and grandparents told us about, telling us, ‘Didn’t God deliver us from Egypt?’ The fact is, God has nothing to do with us—He has turned us over to Midian.” But God faced Him directly: “Go in this strength that is yours. Save Israel from Midian. Haven’t I just sent you?”“ Judges‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This scripture is perfect for me right now because God has called me to “Go,” just like He did Gideon. It may not be to save a nation, but it is to encourage, comfort, empower others. In obeying God, there is no telling what He is up to!

I have been through a lot in my life. Many opportunities to ask God “Where are You?” Many times I had to walk through and experience pain, despair, fear, trauma.

Why would a loving God allow these things to happen; allow me to experience all those horrific times? How can He possibly use them for good?

I don’t know the extent to those questions, but I can trust God and know He will do what He says.

And right now He is telling me to “Go.” So, I obey, I “Go.”  I use the wisdom, insight, experiences He allowed me to go through and use them to encourage, comfort, and empower others even if I am scared to take that step.

I love the quote from Elisabeth Elliot, which says, “Sometimes when we are called to obey, the fear does not subside and we are expected to move against the fear. One must choose to do it afraid.”

I’m doing it afraid knowing that I am not alone in my journey. God promises to be with me, walk beside me and walk ahead of me to prepare the way. My only job is to ”GO!

  1. You are a strong lady! I’m so proud of you.
Yes, it’s hard to “go” when we are afraid, but I’m reminded that Mary said yes when the angel told her Gods plan. We must try to follow her example.

    • You and Uncle Larry were one of the first people to believe in me and showed me what strong people in the Lord looked like. You continue to do that to this day with this new adventure God has us on. Doing it afraid, like Mary did, you did, while boldly being strong and courageous. Thank you.
