I Choose Today...

I Choose Today to Renew My Mind

Transformation doesn’t begin when our circumstances change, it begins when our thinkingdoes. Our lives move in the direction of our most dominant thoughts, which is why Paul’s reminder in Romans 12:2 is so powerful: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” So often, we focus on changing what we do before changing how we think. But the real work of transformation happens in the mind. That’s where God reshapes how we see ourselves, our situations, and even Him. I’ve learned that the enemy can’t control my life, but he can influence my thoughts, and my thoughts influence everything else. He does what he did in the garden: twist truth just enough to create doubt, shame, or fear. He uses guilt to weigh us down and comparison to keep us small. I’ll never forget walking into a women’s leadership conference filled with about a hundred women. From the moment I stepped in, I felt like an imposter. I wondered how I ended up there, surrounded by so many women who seemed smarter, stronger, and more confident than me. During worship, I bowed my head

I Choose Today to Bring Change

Have you seen the news lately? Driven down a freeway or walked through a crowded store? It feels like everywhere we turn, there’s angst, anger, and brokenness. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, the darkness of this world can weigh heavy. David reminds us of this truth: “There is no one who does good, no, not even one.” — Psalm 53:3a AMP And maybe you’ve wondered, Why doesn’t God just come back already? Why does He wait while so much evil, pain, and suffering continue? Scripture answers that too: “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” — 2 Peter 3:9 God’s extraordinary patience is a reflection of His extraordinary love. He waits so that more can come—your family member, your neighbor, even your enemy. Jesus came so that everyone could experience God’s love firsthand. That means me. That means you. That means the “whosoevers” who haven’t yet heard or believed. So while the world feels heavy with darkness, you and I are invited to step in as light-bearers. We get to bring change, not in our

I Choose Today to Go Through This Season Well

“Lord, help me go through this season well…” I recently heard the story of a man who was given only a short time to live after a cancer diagnosis. Instead of asking God for healing, his prayer was, “Lord, help me to die well.” After his passing, his wife—now a widow—began to pray, “Lord, help me to grieve well.” Their words have stayed with me. We all walk through seasons we never planned for—loss, pain, transition, disappointment. Seasons where there’s no playbook and no clear direction. We don’t know how to process, much less how to do them well. But I believe this couple discovered the secret: they turned to God. God isn’t surprised by the storms that hit our lives. He’s not scrambling to come up with a plan. Through the Holy Spirit living inside us, He knows exactly what we need and is faithful to guide us through—step by step. We’ve all seen what happens when we try to navigate those hard seasons on our own. Things unravel. Our pain deepens. Or worse, it spills over onto others, making the situation heavier than before. I know this firsthand. But when we surrender our circumstances to God, even without

I Choose Today to Shine Light in the Darkness

Lately, it feels like everywhere we turn, evil is making the headlines. Violence, hatred, division—it can all feel so loud, so overwhelming, so heavy. And if I’m honest, sometimes it feels like evil is winning. That it’s snuffing out what is good and leaving fear in its place. Maybe you’ve felt that too. But here’s the thing: darkness can never overcome darkness. It just multiplies it. The only thing that can overcome darkness is light. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). And then He turned around and told us, “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14–16). That means the same Light that overcame death and the grave lives inside of us. We are called to carry that light into the world—not by shouting louder, but by living differently. Not by fueling anger, but by showing love. Not by retreating in fear, but by standing firm in faith. I think about how Jesus modeled this. He never fought evil with

I Choose Today to Be Transformed

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “God’s transformed me,” but then wondered what that really means? We use the word transformation a lot, but how do we actually define it? What does it look like in real life? I know I’ve shared many stories of how Jesus has changed my life, healed deep pain, and rewritten my story. But recently I realized something—I’ve never slowed down to really unpack what transformation is or what it looks like in the everyday. And maybe someone reading this needs to hear it today. Because here’s the thing: people often nod their heads at “transformation,” but secretly wonder, “What does that mean for me? And how do I begin?” There’s a phrase I come back to often: “If we don’t let God transform our pain, we will end up transferring it to others.” Untransformed pain doesn’t disappear. It shows up in our marriages, our parenting, our friendships, even in our churches. It makes us quick to react, slow to trust, or guarded with others. But the transformation Jesus offers doesn’t just soothe the pain—it redeems it. He takes bitterness and grows compassion, He takes despair and gives endurance, He takes grief and forms comfort
