I Choose Today...

I Choose Today to be embolden by the power of God’s Word

God: the source of all power. David spent most of his development years out with the sheep. This job was a dirty job, a lowly job, an unregarded job, a lonely/isolated job. But it was during this time where David got to love God, His Word, and see Him in action. God was David’s constant companion. David noticed God in everything he saw. David depended on God for his and his sheep’s basic needs and protection. His relationship with God was very personal (that is probably why David was torn up when people disrespected/disregarded God’s Word/laws/decrees). David relied on God’s strength every day while tending to his sheep, which served as a training ground for the challenges he would later face. I think that is why the Psalms are so encouraging. They are like a balm for our souls. They resonate with us because we can relate to David’s struggles, but we also witness his deep relationship with the Lord. David depended on God for the strength and power to make it through each day, each struggle, and to not loose hope. David used the power of God’s Word to encourage, strengthen, embolden, and comfort him through his trials. I

I Choose Today to change my clothes…

God’s Word is FULL of practical principles for living everyday life. In Paul’s letter to the Colossians, God illustrates how we are to receive and treat others with whom we come in contact. Paul instructs, “Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” How counter-culture are these instructions? Where being offensive, offended, and hostile are all the rage (no pun intended), God instructs us once again to go against the grain and do the unexpected: Make allowances for one another; In this text, “make allowances for one another” means being understanding and forgiving of each other’s faults, shortcomings, or mistakes. It suggests a willingness to be patient and considerate, recognizing that nobody is perfect and that people may occasionally err or fall short of expectations. It encourages giving forgiveness, grace, and mercy to one another. Forgive: In the context of the text, “forgive” means to pardon or let go

I Choose Today to focus on my destiny

I just love Simon Peter. Peter was the most bold, outspoken, and enthusiastic of all the disciples. He was the first to put himself out there for God; to take a stand, to be bold in how he felt, to be a leader among his peers. But even Peter lost his courage when he took his focus off God, as illustrated in Matthew 14:30-31,  “But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” I surmise that Jesus was teaching Peter, the other disciples, and you and me that in order to achieve anything for Christ, we need to keep our focus squarely on Him. Jesus knew what was in store for Peter and He was preparing him for his destiny. Jesus knew Peter would need to be bold, take a stand, and be courageous in his destiny: spreading the Good News of Jesus. Therefore, Jesus was preparing and reminding Peter where his strength, courage, boldness came from, so he could reach the destination (his destiny) for which God
