I Choose Today...

I Choose Today to Tell My Story

The “great commission” is something with which most believers are familiar:

”And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.“ ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This can be daunting. Some say this means we are to leave our jobs, homes, friends, and families to go to countries around the world to proclaim and preach the gospel.

While this is true for some, most of us are not called to do that. But the “great commission” is for everyone: you and myself included.

Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.“ Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬. Another version says it this way, ”Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story…“ (NIV).

Everyone has a story to tell: experiences God has brought them through, deliverance from something or someone, provision for a need, healing from sickness or trauma, redeeming relationships.

In the rest of Psalms 107, David gives examples of people who cried out to God, and He answered them. People who were wandering in the desert alone, hopeless, and hungry cried out to God and “He put them on a wonderful road that took [them] straight to a good place to live,” and gave them plenty of food and water.

Some of us once sat in darkness, living in the dark shadows of death. We were prisoners to our pain, chained to our regrets.“‭‭(10‬) Some of us were running from God. Others were in storms of life, oppressed, misery, sorrow. Each time, when we cried out to God, He answered, He showed up, He rescued us. He redeemed us.

I have story after story of such occasions in my life. I am sure you do too. Stories of God’s faithfulness, His goodness, mercy, love, compassion; His salvation. That is our story, our stories of hope, deliverance, and redemption, we can tell.

The Great Commission isn’t just for a select few—it’s a call for every believer to share their story of redemption and spread the Good News wherever they go. Let us remember that our experiences of God’s faithfulness and redemption are powerful tools for bringing hope to those around us.

As you reflect on your own journey of redemption, I encourage you to take a moment to think about who in your life needs to hear your story. Is it a friend struggling with doubt, a family member in need of hope, or a coworker searching for meaning? Let’s each commit to sharing the Good News of God’s redemption with those around us. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of others.
