I was reading Acts 3 this morning—the story where Peter and John encounter the man crippled from birth, sitting at the temple gate called Beautiful.
He was asking for money. That’s all he knew to ask for. He had likely given up hope for anything beyond daily provision, let alone complete healing. He was surviving, not thriving. His condition defined him. And then… everything changed.
Peter looked straight at him and said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
And he did.
But here’s the part that really struck me: the physical healing wasn’t the end of the story—it was just the beginning. It wasn’t about muscles suddenly working or legs straightening—it was about an invitation into a whole new life. A soul restored. A testimony birthed.
So often we stop at the surface. We look for God to fix what’s broken in our lives—to meet the need in front of us—and we miss that He’s offering something much deeper: eternal healing, restoration, and relationship.
This man had only ever known life from a crippled position. Just like sin cripples us from birth, it’s all we know. And when we’re stuck in survival mode, we don’t even know what to hope for. We just ask for what we think we can get—relief instead of restoration. Comfort instead of change.
I’ve lived that. There have been seasons where I wasn’t asking for transformation—I was just begging God to help me make it through the day. But in His mercy, He gave me what I didn’t even know to ask for. Healing in places I thought were too broken. Freedom from things I thought were part of me forever. Hope I didn’t dare dream about.
That’s the kind of God we serve.
Peter and John didn’t just give that man legs—they gave him a glimpse of eternity. And that’s what we’re called to do too.
Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses.”
Peter and John had walked with Jesus. They had seen Him heal, love, teach, die, rise—and restore. And because of that, they didn’t just talk about Him. They walked in His power.
And they were moved by compassion.
They saw beyond the obvious need and recognized the real need. But compassion cost them something. It stopped their current journey. It interrupted their plans. Yet in that moment, they made room for someone else’s healing—and eternity was changed.
The door opens with kindness. The connection starts with compassion.
So today, I choose to believe healing runs deeper. And I choose to be a witness.
What about you?
What basic need is God prompting you to meet in someone’s life?
Maybe it’s not dramatic—maybe it’s as simple as a word of encouragement, a bag of groceries, offering to babysit or dog-sit. But whatever it is, are you available?
Because sometimes the need in front of you isn’t the end—it’s the entry point.
The door opens with kindness. The connection starts with compassion.
And maybe—just maybe—that’s the very moment God wants to use to share your story of hope and lead someone to the ultimate Provider.
Be ready. Be willing. Be His witness.
