I Choose Today

I Choose Today...

I Choose Today to be Seen

A few weeks ago I wrote about loosing my cool with a customer service representative. I wrote about how God can use my mistakes to teach me. Well, I had the opportunity last week to put my new lesson learned into practice.

I was coming home from a trip and had a carryon that was my personal item. The airline decided my bag was too big (even though it wasn’t on my first flight), and I would need to pay almost $100. I was frustrated as I getting onto the plane. The flight attendant approached me and ask me what was wrong.

After the initial frustration, I found myself faced with a choice during the flight; to take out my frustration on the staff of the airline, or be kind to the flight attendant. I choose the latter.

During the flight, the flight attendant told me I could probably get my money back if I email the airline. She asked for my email so she could give me the information. I handed her one of my “I Choose Today” business cards with my email on it. She walked away.

She came back a time later and asked me what “I Choose Today” was all about. I was able to share with her my hope I have in Jesus as my savior.  She opened up to me that she was going through a really rough time and felt alone. I was able to share with her that with God, she is never alone.

After our conversation, my seat-mate said that was beautiful to watch and she could see the Lord work through me to minister to this woman.

If I let my frustration take over, I would not been a light for the Lord to these two women.

Jesus tells us the importance of letting our [His] light shine in the following passage,

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.“ Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭16‬

You never know who is watching and whose life you can impact with your light. So let it shine for all to see.

Choose today to be a light in someone’s life. Share your own ‘I Choose Today’ moment or story in the comments below, and let’s inspire each other to make a positive impact.

  1. Molinda, what a great story! As I was reading this, I was thinking about how the Lord does teach us as we walk through the details of our lives, and yet it can still be hard to put into practice what He is teaching us when a new situation comes up. I’m so proud of you for choosing to be the “light” even though you were frustrated. You let God’s love, His agape love, show through you.
