I Choose Today to Be a Remnant (Remnant Series – Part 1)

I’ve been sitting with this word for a while now: remnant.

It’s not a trendy word. It’s not flashy. It doesn’t shout for attention.

But it’s faithful. Quietly, courageously faithful.

In Scripture, a remnant is the group of people who remain loyal to God when everyone else walks away. They’re the ones who still say yes when compromise is easier. They’re not perfect—but they’re willing. They’re not many—but they’re deeply known by God.

From the earliest pages of the Bible to the final chapters of Revelation, God has always preserved a remnant. When the world was drenched in wickedness, Noah found favor. When Elijah thought he was the only one left, God reminded him of the 7,000 who had not bowed to Baal. When Israel was exiled, a remnant returned and rebuilt.

Even Isaiah spoke of this kind of faithfulness when he wrote, “In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. A remnant will return… to the Mighty God” (Isaiah 10:20–21). The remnant are those who stop relying on the world for strength and return to the One who never fails.

And when Jesus walked the earth, it wasn’t the crowds who carried the Kingdom—it was a handful of men and women willing to leave everything behind.

The remnant isn’t the loudest.

They’re not always center stage.

But they are the ones who remain rooted when the winds of culture, fear, and false teaching blow through.

And I want to be one of them.

I want to be someone who doesn’t chase platforms or echo popular opinion. I want to be someone who listens for the still, small voice of the Spirit—and responds.

Being a remnant doesn’t mean you have it all together. It means you stay tethered to the One who does. It means relying fully on the strength of God—not your own.

Paul said it this way: “So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace”(Romans 11:5).

We are not the remnant because we’ve earned it.

We are not set apart because we’re strong.

We are chosen—by grace.

It means choosing justice when it would be easier to turn a blind eye.

Loving mercy when the world demands vengeance.

Walking humbly when pride is applauded and self-promotion is normalized.

It means choosing to live for the Kingdom of God instead of the kingdoms we build for ourselves.

And it starts today.

You don’t have to know how it all plays out. You just need to say yes.

Yes to being faithful in the small things.

Yes to staying rooted in God’s Word.

Yes to loving Him more than your comfort.

Yes to being a remnant—one choice at a time.

Ask Him to show you what you’ve been relying on apart from Him.

Spend time in His Word, returning to His truth above the noise.

Pray for a remnant heart—a posture of daily surrender, not performance.

You don’t have to see the whole road ahead.

You just have to say yes to the next step.

I choose today to be a remnant. Do you?
