I Choose Today to pray

As I was reflecting on my desire of falling deeper in love with God in 2023, I asked the Lord what I should focus on this year. As I waited quietly in my quiet time, I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to pray. There are many demonstrations of prayer in God’s Word. Jesus prayed all the time: for others, for healing, for strength, and because of His relationship with His Father. He, the Son of God, knew the importance of prayer, the importance of communing with God. He knew by spending time with His Father would prepare His heart and mind for His purpose and fulfilling the plan set out before Him. But Jesus was divine, the Son of God. Of course God would listen, speak, give guidance, provide comfort, impart power to Him. But I am not Jesus. I am a broken human. Who am I that God should listen, guide, or speak to me? All I have to do is look to His Word to see how God answers prayer for mere humans. Look at what James says about Elijah when he states, ”…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

I Choose Today to Reflect

The beginning of a new year sparks excitement – fresh opportunities, challenges, adventures, and resolutions waiting to unfold. You might be thinking, “I don’t like making New Year’s resolutions; I always end up breaking them.” That sentiment resonates with me too. Until last year, I shared the same perspective on resolutions; they felt like setting myself up for failure amid life’s inevitable challenges. Then, a challenge from a church member, to fall deeper in love with God, altered my mindset. I resolved to deepen my connection with God, a resolution that changed my world. My journey led me to fall even deeper in love with God’s Word – a craving that drove me to explore its depths. I discovered that His Word is His breath, His very essence. My understanding of God’s nature deepened, revealing His genuine love, mercy, grace, and being the ultimate source of hope. Most profoundly, I developed a deeper personal relationship with God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The joy of knowing they delight in me transformed my perspective. Words can’t capture the impact of this resolution on my life. As I gear up for 2024, my resolutions include fervent prayer, living

Praise Him!

Good morning my friend. This is the last day of 2023 and tomorrow is 2024 ! Psalm 40:3 says ” He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. So lets take this verse and break it down. What does it mean when David said ” He put a new song in my mouth”?  In Psalm 33:3 Sing to him a new song:play skillfully on the strings , with loud shouts.” He Heals the brokenHearted. Psalms 147:1 ” Praise the Lord!  For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasent, and a song is of praise is fitting”.  If there was ever a man that understood what is was to truly see understand success and failure  it was King David. Yes he was a man that had to pay for the consequences of sin but he also was a man that understood true forgiveness from God. So going into a New Year let’s Praise the Lord for giving us a New Beginning.  Have a Happy New Year, Smile God loves you and so do I.

I Choose Today my identity

Who am I? Who am I that God should or would use me to make a difference? This is the same question Moses asked when he was talking to God, “… “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you…”“ Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭12‬a You see, God made it a habit of using people who didn’t have any status or qualifications to do something great for His kingdom: Moses: a son of a slave and a murderer Gideon: the least of his people David: a lowly shepherd boy Abraham: the son of an idol maker Rehab: a prostitute Ester: an orphan Peter: fisherman Mary: a teenage girl I could list more examples, but the point is we don’t need to be qualified or have status for God to use us. We just need to know who He is and who we are to Him. Then simply obey. “We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.” 2 Cor 3:4-5.

I Choose Today to wait

I recently read about someone who had to learn how to rest, wait, learn, and renew by not moving for a period of time due to a medical condition. What would I do if faced with doing nothing? Would it drive me crazy seemingly doing nothing? What could I possibly do while resting, waiting, learning, renewing like he did? The interesting thing about all these words is they are all verbs. A verb is defined as a word that describes an action, state or experience. As it pertains to the state of resting, waiting, learning, and renewing, it is doing something while doing nothing! To me, the season of waiting is an action. The action of resting involves being inactive to restore strength, health, or energy. Also, seeking rest for the soul, which can only truly be accomplished through Christ Jesus. So the act of resting is actually the action of revival of strength, health, and energy. I need to renew my strength just like it says in Isaiah 40:31,  “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and
