I Choose Today to Invite Jesus into My Day

“I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.” This morning, I felt the Lord prompting me to get up and spend some time with Him. It has been a beautiful thing. I feel like I get my coffee and have coffee with Him. It reminds me of the verse in Rev 3 where it says “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal (coffee) together as friends.” (Verse 20). So, this morning I sat down with my coffee and recited that verse and invited Him into my time so I can spend time with Him “as friends.” Isn’t that amazing that the God of the universe wants to have coffee with me, spend time with me, be friends with me? I Choose Today to Look for the God Who Sees Me

Have you ever been in a situation where you don’t feel there will be a good outcome or a way out? Maybe you feel alone and you don’t have any support? Well, that is exactly how Hagar felt so she ran away from her situation. But she found herself in the wilderness, feeling completely alone… but was she? Nope! God saw her! ”Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬a ‭NLT‬‬ He saw her mess (that she helped make), her distress, her isolation. Even though she wasn’t where she was supposed to be, God met her where she was! Hagar also recognized God. Hagar was an Egyptian. Her culture had many Gods. But being in Abraham’s household, she knew about his God, the one true God. And He was showing Himself to her, a lowly servant girl, who has made a mess of things. I Choose Today to Set Priorities

My husband and I have some long time friends who opened up to us about a struggle they were having in their marriage. The reason for their struggle is they were not prioritizing spending time together. They each had their own agenda of what they needed/wanted to do, but most times it didn’t include the other person. Soon feeling neglect were realized and tension and accusation began. My husband and I shared with them what we do to be intentional about prioritizing our relationship. Each morning, we “meet” in his office to have coffee, conversation, devotional, and prayer; we call it our touchpoint. It usually lasts from 15-30 minutes, as time allows. Then on Fridays, after work, we sit on the porch for some “back porch sitting,” to wind down our week together. Yet another prioritized touchpoint. These two touch-points have done wonders for our relationship. We have found out more about each other, have lively conversation, laughed together, cried together, asked for forgiveness, and been forgiven. There is another relationship that needs prioritized with the same intentionality as we do for our marriages; our relationship with our heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I Choose Today to be Agile

In my professional life, I navigate the dynamic realm of software development, where the Agile methodology reigns supreme. Agile isn’t just a framework; it’s a mindset—a commitment to iterative progress, collaboration, and perpetual enhancement. In the Agile world, each project unfolds in iterative phases. It begins with establishing guidelines and requirements, followed by developers crafting new functionalities. Then, these features undergo rigorous testing to identify and rectify any glitches before being released into production. Rinse and repeat. Each cycle builds upon the previous one, constantly refining and evolving towards excellence. Reflecting on this process, I’m reminded of a verse from James 1:3 (NLT), “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” Just as in Agile, where challenges drive improvement, trials in our faith journey strengthen our endurance and deepen our resilience. Just as Agile encourages continuous improvement, our faith is honed through each trial, leading to growth and maturity. So today, I choose to embrace agility—not just in my work but also in my faith—welcoming challenges as opportunities for growth and endurance. Join me in embracing agility in both work and faith. I Choose Today the Call to Action

Since I began writing this blog, I have learned a lot about how to write a blog (which I had no idea how to do when I felt the Lord’s prompting). One of the ways blogs are enhanced is to add a “call to action” at the end of the post. A call to action refers to a speech, written content, or action prompting or motivating individuals to take specific action. It is when I encourage the reader, you, into some sort of action to reinforce the topic written about in the blog. However, modern day bloggers and marketers are not the originators of calls to action. The oldest and best selling book, the Bible, is full of calls to action.
