I choose today to be harmonious…
“After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.”
1 Corinthians 3:5
This scripture illustrates to me that we all (believers/the church) make up the body of Christ. We all have a role to perform, a job to do, and gifts we each possess in order to complete this role/job.
It is not a contest, nor is it a competition. A hand doesn’t perform the same task as an ear, so how can it compare? But the ear can hear and the brain can send messages to the hand to react to what is heard. The body works harmoniously, just as God designed it, just like the body of Christ.
I always wanted to be able to sing; asked God why I couldn’t have that gift; pouting about what I don’t have (immature). But God has shown me He has given certain people that gift to minister to the body, and that includes me! It is such a blessing, like a balm to my soul, when I hear someone using their gift to glorify the Lord! As I mature in Christ, He is giving me eyes to see how everything works together, like a giant puzzle, that turns into a stunning picture. Now I am not looking at other peoples’ gifts and pouting/comparing, now I am focused on the gifts God has given me and using them for His glory and to encourage the body!
Thank You, Lord, for Your body and the gifts and talents You give to each of us in order to complete Your perfect plan. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of that plan. Help me to edify You and Your body with the gifts You bestowed upon me. Holy Spirit, remind me, keep me in check so I, the hand, don’t try to be the ear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Different people, different gifts… it’s a beautiful picture of how God uses each of us to glorify Him and make the world around us a better place.
It is like a beautiful symphony. Truly awe inspiring!
