Have you ever watched an artist at work, marveling at their God-given talent that allows them to create incredible masterpieces? Or witnessed an elite athlete with such natural gifting that their instincts in making the perfect shot or catch seem almost divinely inspired? Perhaps, you’ve been in a church service where the speaker, impassioned by their God-given message, left you in awe of the spiritual talent they possess. Or a musician, chef, mathematician, designer, teacher?
I could go on and on, but you get the point. You may even wonder how they can physically, mentally, or vision that enables them to accomplish such things. God’s Word tells us how and why these people could accomplish all these amazing things.
God has gifted each person the ability to fulfill the purpose He intended. Paul talks about the seven motivational gifts God gives us to complete our mission here on earth.
Romans 12 says, ”so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.
- “So if God has given you the ability to [motivate] prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.” This gift is someone who feels the impulse to motivate others to serve the Lord, know the Lord, and fall in love with the Lord.
- “If your gift is serving others, serve them well.” The motivational gift of serving is someone who loves meet the basic needs of others on a practical level. They are the ones who love to be on the cleanup team or buys grocery for a family in need.
- “If you are a teacher, teach well.” A teacher is someone who loves to learn and then loves to share what they learn with others. (This is my motivating gift; just ask my family lol).
- “If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging.” This gift is so important as it is someone who has a positive outlook no matter the circumstances. This person is really good about seeing the good in people and making others feel good about themselves.
- If it is giving, give generously. People who have this gift finds true joy in giving to others. They keep vigilant for opportunities to meet the needs of others. They are also generous in sharing knowledge about being a good steward.
- “If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously.” Someone with the gift of leadership is typically a natural at motivating by using their ability to guide, inspire, and influence others toward a common goal.
- “And if you have a gift for showing kindness [empathizer] to others, do it gladly.“ Someone who is empathetic feels a persons point of view, pain, and has compassion.
Romans 12:5-8 NLT

What a wonderful expectation. To stretch my walk with the is to use the gifts God has given us. Its funny but everyone around us sees our gifts, yet we sometimes spend a lifetime looking for them our selves.
God uses other people to speak truth into our lives, like telling us what they see. To your point, over the summer I asked Rick what he thought my gifting was. Without hesitation, he said I had a gift of speaking and teaching. I knew in my heart that was right. So I prayed about it and start walking my gifts out through this blog and possibly through the podcast. You know what your gifting is; now it is up to you to pray, ask for wisdom, and start walking it out. Amen?
