I Choose Today to Be Part of the Restoration

Last time, I shared how the Bible isn’t just a book of rules or doctrine—it’s a story of relationship. But that relationship isn’t static. It’s redemptive. It’s active. And it’s still unfolding today.

So today, I choose to be part of the restoration.

Let’s go back to Acts 10.

Peter. Cornelius. A rooftop. A vision. A meal. A house full of Gentiles. And a moment that changed everything.

Jesus had already spoken the commission in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””

The gospel had reached Jerusalem, Judea, even Samaria. But it hadn’t crossed the line from Jew to Gentile. Not yet.

Peter’s vision wasn’t just about food. It was about people. It was about us.

When he stepped into Cornelius’s house, Peter stepped into something uncomfortable, unfamiliar—and holy. And when he spoke about Jesus, the Holy Spirit fell on that house just like at Pentecost.

Peter didn’t know how eternally impactful going over to one person’s house would be.

One simple request.

One simple yes.

One simple house.

But it became the birthplace of a global gospel movement. That’s how God works—through the small. Through the willing. Through the yes.

I’ve seen it in my own life too.

Years ago, a young woman came into my life—early 20s, rough lifestyle, tattooed, loud, and shockingly blunt. She tested my patience, hoping I’d flinch. But I didn’t. I just kept showing up. Kept listening. Kept loving.

One day, in a group setting, someone cursed and immediately apologized to me. But before I could respond, she jumped in:

“It’s more offensive to her when someone uses God’s name in vain than when someone cusses around her.”

I had never said a word about that. She saw it in me.

Because sometimes, Christ speaks loudest through the quiet witness of presence.

She later became part of our family. I mentored her through a painful healing journey, pointing her to Jesus—the one who had healed me too. She’s no longer here. But I believe I’ll see her again in glory.

That’s what restoration looks like. That’s what obedience can do.

God’s not just building a kingdom.

He’s building a family. With whosoever will.

So maybe your “yes” today feels small. Maybe it feels uncomfortable. But don’t underestimate it.

Your obedience could be the doorway to someone else’s healing, freedom, or faith.

🟡 Today’s Step:

Open your heart to someone outside your usual circle.

Invite them to coffee. Ask their story. Or just show them they matter.

Let the Holy Spirit lead—and trust that your yes may echo further than you know.

  1. “Your obedience could be the doorway to someone else’s healing, freedom, or faith.” I’ve been pondering reaching out to a couple of gals. I keep telling myself, who am I to reach out? Will it matter to them? But if the H.S. is in it, it will. Thanks for the encouragement!
