I Choose Today to Bring Change

Have you seen the news lately? Driven down a freeway or walked through a crowded store? It feels like everywhere we turn, there’s angst, anger, and brokenness. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, the darkness of this world can weigh heavy. David reminds us of this truth: “There is no one who does good, no, not even one.” — Psalm 53:3a AMP And maybe you’ve wondered, Why doesn’t God just come back already? Why does He wait while so much evil, pain, and suffering continue? Scripture answers that too: “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” — 2 Peter 3:9 God’s extraordinary patience is a reflection of His extraordinary love. He waits so that more can come—your family member, your neighbor, even your enemy. Jesus came so that everyone could experience God’s love firsthand. That means me. That means you. That means the “whosoevers” who haven’t yet heard or believed. So while the world feels heavy with darkness, you and I are invited to step in as light-bearers. We get to bring change, not in our

I Choose Today to Build on the Cornerstone (Episode 26)

You probably remember the story of the Three Little Pigs. One built his house with straw, another with sticks, and the last with bricks. When the wolf came, he blew down the first two, but no matter how hard he huffed and puffed, he couldn’t touch the brick house. As kids, it was just a fairytale. But as adults, we understand the deeper truth: what matters most isn’t how the house looks—it’s what it’s built on. A weak foundation can’t stand against the storm. Jesus used the same image when He said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” (Matthew 7:24–25). In the ancient world, builders began with something called a cornerstone. It was the first stone set, the one every other stone was aligned with. If the cornerstone was off, the entire building would be crooked. But if it was strong and true, the building could stand firm. That’s why Paul writes, “built

I Choose Today to Go Through This Season Well

“Lord, help me go through this season well…” I recently heard the story of a man who was given only a short time to live after a cancer diagnosis. Instead of asking God for healing, his prayer was, “Lord, help me to die well.” After his passing, his wife—now a widow—began to pray, “Lord, help me to grieve well.” Their words have stayed with me. We all walk through seasons we never planned for—loss, pain, transition, disappointment. Seasons where there’s no playbook and no clear direction. We don’t know how to process, much less how to do them well. But I believe this couple discovered the secret: they turned to God. God isn’t surprised by the storms that hit our lives. He’s not scrambling to come up with a plan. Through the Holy Spirit living inside us, He knows exactly what we need and is faithful to guide us through—step by step. We’ve all seen what happens when we try to navigate those hard seasons on our own. Things unravel. Our pain deepens. Or worse, it spills over onto others, making the situation heavier than before. I know this firsthand. But when we surrender our circumstances to God, even without

I Choose Today to Shine Light in the Darkness

Lately, it feels like everywhere we turn, evil is making the headlines. Violence, hatred, division—it can all feel so loud, so overwhelming, so heavy. And if I’m honest, sometimes it feels like evil is winning. That it’s snuffing out what is good and leaving fear in its place. Maybe you’ve felt that too. But here’s the thing: darkness can never overcome darkness. It just multiplies it. The only thing that can overcome darkness is light. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). And then He turned around and told us, “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14–16). That means the same Light that overcame death and the grave lives inside of us. We are called to carry that light into the world—not by shouting louder, but by living differently. Not by fueling anger, but by showing love. Not by retreating in fear, but by standing firm in faith. I think about how Jesus modeled this. He never fought evil with

I Choose Today to Trust God’s Promises: You Are Not Alone

Promises—those declarations or assurances that something will happen—are so often broken. When they are, trust gets harder. Depending on the promise and who broke it, a relationship can feel damaged beyond repair. And if we’re honest, those wounds can make it hard to trust again in other relationships too. But here’s the good news, friend: God always keeps His promises. Always. Numbers 23:19 reminds us, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” And Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” If God has said it, He is faithful to do it. So when He says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8), you can count on it. That means when you feel alone, abandoned, or like His presence is far away—you don’t have to stay stuck in fear. Take courage. He is already ahead of you. He is beside you. He is
