I Choose Today to Believe God Still Revives What Looks Dead

Have you ever experienced the death of a dream… a relationship… a job… a family… your innocence? In our own strength, we are powerless to resurrect what’s been lost. But I have hope-filled news for you today, I know Someone who does have the power to resurrect the dead. His name is Jesus.

There is a historical account in Scripture of Lazarus, one of Jesus’ close friends. Lazarus became sick and died rather quickly. His sisters had sent for Jesus, hoping He would come and heal him, but Jesus didn’t arrive before Lazarus passed. And then four days after his death, Jesus finally showed up. To Martha and Mary, it must have felt like all hope was gone.

But with Jesus, being “too late” is still right on time for the impossible. Because healing may have passed, but resurrection had not.

In John’s Gospel, we see Jesus respond to Martha with these powerful words:

“Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?’”

(John 11:25–26, NLT)

“Do you believe this, Martha?”

Such a simple question, yet such a piercing one.

Martha believed in who Jesus was. She believed in the future resurrection. But she struggled to see that He was speaking about a present resurrection, right here, right now, in her unbearable grief.

And that same question still echoes to us today.

Do we believe it?

Do we believe Jesus can resurrect the death of a dream… a relationship… a marriage… our brokenness… our shattered heart… even innocence that was stolen?

Jesus’ power to resurrect is not limited to physical death. It stretches into every place in our lives that feels lifeless and beyond repair. When we invite Him into our pain and trust Him with what seems impossible, He breathes new life into what we thought was gone forever.

Just as He called Lazarus out of the grave, He still calls hearts, futures, and buried hopes out of darkness and into His marvelous light.

So today, the same question remains:

Do you believe this?

Take a moment and lay before Jesus whatever feels broken, delayed, or lifeless in your life. Ask Him to release His resurrection power over those places. Trust that He is still the resurrection and the life, not just someday, but right now.

If you’re willing, write down one area you need Him to revive… and place it in His hands with faith.

And if you need prayer or want to share your journey, I’d love to walk with you. We were never meant to believe alone.

Today’s Step:

Today, open one door of your heart to Jesus and invite Him into the place that feels the most hopeless. Say it out loud. Name it in His presence. Then choose to believe, before you see, that resurrection is still possible.
