Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
We usually think of this verse in light of the big stuff—job loss, illness, grief, tragedy. But what about the little things—the everyday interactions, the words we speak in frustration, the way we respond when we feel misunderstood?
Not long ago, I was on the phone with a customer service rep about a shipping mistake. Her response came across as accusatory, and before I knew it, my defenses went up. My words followed quickly after. The call ended with tension instead of resolution, and I felt the sting of conviction. I had not been a good witness for Christ. Shame whispered that I was a failure.
But God…
He reminded me that even my shortcomings can become places of growth. The Holy Spirit gently uncovered the deeper reasons for my reaction and gave me the opportunity to invite Him into those places. That moment became a lesson—a reminder of what not to do, but more importantly, a call to let Him transform me so my light can shine brighter the next time.
And here’s the grace: not long after, I found myself in a nearly identical situation—this time with my health insurance company. Frustration was knocking at the door again. But instead of reacting, I paused, breathed, and chose to remain calm. Because of that, the representative went above and beyond to help me. That situation turned out completely different—because I let God use the small stuff to shape me.
We don’t just reflect Christ in the big, dramatic moments. We represent Him in the everyday—in conversations with strangers, in our responses when things don’t go our way, in how we handle inconvenience and stress. These are the “small things” that make the light of Christ visible.
Romans 8:28 is not only about God redeeming tragedy. It’s about Him weaving even our missteps, irritations, and ordinary conversations into something that refines us and glorifies Him.

Today’s Step:
Pause before you react today. Whether it’s a frustrating phone call, a slow driver, or a misunderstanding with a loved one—invite the Holy Spirit into that moment. Ask Him to help you respond in a way that lets His light shine through you.

What a timely message. I experienced something similar yesterday, only it was in a friendly game of cards. I got so frustrated with one of the players who was a little slow and feel like I wasn’t as patient and kind as I should have been. I had to ask the Lord to help me do better in situations like that. I’m so thankful that He is patient with me. I do want to be a light for Him!
Absolutely can relate to this! I’ve done it both ways too. Great reminder.
Your anointing is clear! Stay in the immersion into Jesus!
