I Choose Today to See the Story of Relationship

Podcast Episode 16

Recently, during my quiet time, the Holy Spirit gave me an ah-ha moment that I couldn’t shake. It was simple but profound: the entire Bible—from beginning to end—is a story of relationship.

Not just truth.

Not just rules.

But a love story. A pursuit. A God who wants to walk with us.

If you’ve studied storytelling, you know every good story has an arc. There’s intention, conflict, a turning point, and a resolution. And the Bible follows that arc perfectly:

God created us for relationship.

Sin broke it.

God pursued us through covenant.

He sent Jesus to restore what was lost.

And one day, we’ll walk with Him again—face to face.

God says it so clearly in Exodus 6:7:

“I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.”

This has always been His heart.

But somewhere along the way, that message gets buried. Instead of intimacy, many hear:

“Follow the rules.”

“Serve more.”

“Believe harder.”

“Do better.”

And all of that can drown out God’s invitation to simply be with Him.

This truth stirred something deep in me. I feel like I’m carrying a message that could shift how we see God, how we read Scripture, how we live—and how we love. Because when we walk closely with Him, we begin to reflect Him. We forgive more freely. We listen more gently. We love more like He does.

For a long time, I approached Scripture like a textbook—hoping that if I studied enough, I’d earn closeness with God. But now I come asking, “Lord, what are You showing me about Your heart here?”

That one shift—from information to intimacy—changed everything.

How many more people would see God differently if they truly understood that what He wants most is relationship?

We choose relationships all the time—marriage, parenting, friendship. Why not pursue the one relationship that makes all the others better?

I choose today to have relationship with God.

Not just belief. Not just obedience.

But closeness. Conversation. Connection.

And the beautiful part?

He’s already chosen me.

And He’s already chosen you.

Today’s Step:

Reread a familiar Bible passage—this time through the lens of relationship. Ask:

• What does this reveal about God’s heart toward me?

• Where do I see His desire to be near?

• What is He inviting me into today?

Then reflect:

How would my life look different if I truly believed God wants to walk with me?

Join me in this prayer today:

“Lord, thank You for the beauty of Your Word—not just for its truth, but for the invitation to know You. Forgive me for making it about performance. Help me see the thread of relationship You’ve woven from beginning to end. Draw me close. And let my life reflect the love of walking with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
