Have you ever woken up singing a song; a song you keep singing throughout the day? This morning was such a time for me. I woke up singing the chorus of the song This is How I Thank the Lord by Mosaic MSC (link to song added to bottom of this post).
I decided to listen to the song as part of my quiet time worship. The lyrics convicted me.
“So this is how I thank the Lord for saving me
When I was weak, so I will sing
This is how I thank the Lord for everything
This is how I thank the Lord”
The vocalist was showing her thanks to the Lord by using her gift and talent God gave her to glorify the Lord.
So this begs the question, am I thanking the Lord by using the gifts and talents He has given me to glorify Him?
One of the things God has gifted me to do is to encourage others. I wrote about God’s motivational gifts, in a prior blog, saying, “”If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging” (Romans 12). This gift is so important as it is someone who has a positive outlook no matter the circumstances. This person is really good about seeing the good in people and making others feel good about themselves.”
Using this blog is a way to encourage others, you. But God has called me to take another step in encouraging others by starting a podcast. This scares me, so I have been dragging my feet. I am feeling inadequate to do this; and I am inadequate on my own.
But I need to stop holding back His gifts and start using them as a way to thank the Lord; as an act of worship and to glorify Him.
Paul tells us, ”Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way..“ Colossians 3:17 MSG
In moments of reflection, like this morning when I woke up singing, we are reminded of the importance of gratitude and using our gifts to honor the Lord. Let’s not just sing praises but live them out by embracing and utilizing the talents bestowed upon us. As we express our thankfulness through action, we embody the spirit of worship and glorify Him in all we do.
If you’ve been hesitating to step into your calling or utilize your gifts fully, I encourage you to join me in taking that leap of faith. Whether it’s starting a podcast, writing, singing, or any other talent you possess, let’s commit to using them boldly for His glory. Together, let’s embark on this journey of gratitude and service, allowing our actions to be a testament to His goodness. Are you ready to take the next step? Let’s do this together.
