I Choose Today to Follow God’s Guidance

Have you ever faced a big decision and wondered what to do next? We all have. But before taking any step—big or small—Jesus always sought counsel from the Father. As we continue exploring the seven attributes of the Holy Spirit in Isaiah 11:2, today we’re focusing on the Spirit of Counsel. This aspect of the Holy Spirit enables us to receive God’s guidance and offer godly counsel to others—just as Jesus did throughout His ministry. Luke 6:12-13 records one of these moments: “One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles…” Before making one of the biggest decisions in His ministry—choosing His twelve apostles—Jesus spent the entire night in prayer. He sought the Father’s wisdom and guidance, ensuring that every step aligned with God’s will. But Jesus didn’t just seek counsel for Himself—He was also filled with the Holy Spirit so He could guide, teach, and counsel others.
